The Fourth of July is a special holiday when we celebrate our country and recognize how fortunate we are to live in the 'land of the free and home of the brave.' It is a time to pay respects to the veterans who have served to protect our rights and freedoms. It is a time to celebrate with family, friends, fun and fireworks. Fireworks were used in Philadelphia during the first Independence Day celebration on July 4, 1777. The tradition has continued ever since as a reminder of the 'rockets red glare' and what we have had to do to become a free country and maintain our country.

We are very excited about the upcoming Independence Day celebration. For those of you lucky enough to be living in an unrestricted town or outside city limits, fireworks can be used on private property from 9am to 10pm June 1st through July 8 and again from Dec. 10 through Jan. 3. Many cities however have limited the use of fireworks, check your city in central Iowa Here
